The “100-day” Secret You Need to Know.
I have had superficial knowledge all my life. I was someone who knew a little bit about everything. But in the last few months, I am starting to realize the importance of excellence. Mastery over one subject. Above all, mastery over oneself.
You know the times when you say you will do something but don’t? You can’t quit Netflix, Instagram, binge-eating, smoking, drinking, or something else. Always thinking about changing your life at New Year’s but do the same old thing after a few days. Then regret it when the year ends. Accept it, guys, we all have been there.
At least I was. I still am, technically. Otherwise, why would I be writing this on the 20th of October? Once again, the year is about to end. And here we all are. Thinking about new resolutions.
I have been creating new-year resolutions for the last 6–7 years now. I think I will change. Even create this whole new routine to get a good head start. But you know what? The engine cools down after some time and everything goes back to normal.
So, the bottom line is. Why does this happen?
Let’s assume a situation here.
What will happen if you grab a stranger on the road and say to him, “Hey, I want to change your life. These are the things you need to do from the 1st of January”? Will he listen to you? Obviously not! He would run away as fast as he could and tell stories on Christmas about the freak he met on the road today.
Most of us don’t realize that we are a stranger to ourselves. What, Mahika? What the hell do you mean by that?
Basically, you tell yourself the things you think you need to do. But have you ever asked if that’s what you want?
I am not kidding when I say you are a stranger to yourself. Your subconscious mind knows everything about you. But you don’t know anything about yourself. Some people don’t even know why they are doing this course or why they are married to this particular person. They are forcing themselves to do things they think should be done.
These are the people who freak out when things don’t go their way. How will it, god dammit, when you are going the wrong way? What’s the way anyway? Figure that out first.
With all the superficial knowledge we have, we try to change ourselves on the outside. Not gonna lie, I succeed at it every time. Yes. I changed myself. But not in a skin-deep kind of way. Just a brushing from the top. That, my dear friends, does not last long.
You need to change the roots. The entire god-damn programming.
And in order to change that, you need to first know yourself. If this sounds cliché to someone. Let me just ask you one thing. Have you ever tried to get to know a person? You liked or even loved them and did everything to know them personally. If they are still in your life, then congrats. But if not, just ask yourself one thing. If you can do that much for someone else, can you at least spend some time to get to know yourself?
Here’s this 100-day challenge. You have to take a diary, notepad, or something else that is personal to you. Out of your day, take an hour or a half to ask yourself questions. Write about your feelings or insecurities. What are you feeling about that person, a career, or anything in general?
Spend time with yourself every day for at least 100 days. Create a checkbox and tick it every day. When you do this, your thoughts will get more refined. The goals you will set after this will be more aligned with your values and beliefs.
I will start this exercise today and you should too. Be best friends with yourself, guys. It will be of great help.
